Joseph Sears purchased the 223 acres of land in 1889 that would be incorporated seven years later when the population reached 300. Kenilworth has remained small, annexing some property during the 1920s to reach its current size of 0.6 square mile; however, it is that small town charm and quite elegance that has kept the close to 3,000 residents of Kenilworth quite content for many years.
